Animatic Editor

ALT Animation are looking for an experienced Storyboard Pro editor to join us as an Animatic Editor on the upcoming production of ‘Captain Onion’s Buoyant Academy For Wayward Youth’. 

 

The series is a 50 x 11 minute energetic comedy-driven animated adventure show for anyone who’s ever felt like a fish out of water. Aimed at an audience of 7-12 year olds, the heart of the show is about finding the friends that define this time of your life. 

 

The show will be made in collaboration with Studio Meala in Ireland and Wild Child Animation in Scotland, with funding from Northern Ireland Screen, Screen Ireland, Screen Scotland the UK Global Screen Fund. 

Expected Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assemble animatics from storyboard panels, scratch audio, sound effects, and temporary music.  

  • Meet delivery deadlines whilst ensuring animatics align with the Director's creative vision. 

  • Edit sequences to enhance clarity, comedic timing, emotional beats, and overall pacing.

  • Maintain organized edit project files and versioning for each episode.

  • Prepare files and exports for review and key delivery dates. 

  • Incorporate Director and HOD feedback into animatics.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and visual storytelling

  • A passion for telling dynamic and fast paced stories.

  • Good attention to detail. 

  • A good understanding of comedic timing. 

  • Proficiency working within Storyboard Pro.

  • Ability to interpret storyboards and scripts for effective editorial timing. 

  • Great time management and organisational skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Must be based or willing to relocate to Northern Ireland.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working on 2/3 productions of a similar size.
